- Kim Jong-Il now mentioned more often in publications than his father Kim Il-Sung
- Possible attempt by Kim Jong-il¡¯s son, Kim Jung-Eun, to secure his succession

The ¡°Chosun People¡¯s Army (CPA)¡±, the newspaper of the Ministry of the People¡¯s Armed Forces in North Korea, recently started to propagate Kim Jong-il¡¯s achievements more than those of his father Kim Il-Sung.

On the second page of the bulletin, which had been dedicated for Kim Il-Sung¡¯s birthday celebration on April 14th, the publication frequently mentions „Kim Il-Sung¡¯s and Kim Jong-Il¡¯s Powerful and Prosperous Nation¡±.

North Korea previously used phrases like ¡°The Socialists¡¯ Powerful and Prosperous Nation¡± or ¡°the Principal¡¯s Powerful and Prosperous Nation¡±. Never before had it used the names of Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il side by side. Only Kim Il-Sung¡¯s name has been mentioned in phrases like ¡°Kim Il-Sung Chosun¡±, ¡°Kim Il-Sung People¡± or ¡°Kim Il-Sung Nation¡± but never was the name Kim Jong-Il used in such a way.

Kim Il-Sung¡¯s name did not appear at all in CPA on April 25th, only Kim Jong-Il¡¯s name was used to praise ¡°Kim Jong-Il¡¯s Powerful Prosperous Nation¡±.

On the same day, on the editorial page, the phrase ¡°Kim Jong-Il¡¯s Unified Powerful Nation¡± was first used.

North Korea had never added Kim-Jong Il¡¯s name before words like ¡°a Powerful and Prosperous Nation¡± or ¡°a Unified Powerful Nation¡±. The use of his name in this context is very interesting as it implies that the country sees him as an equal to Kim Il-Sung.

An anonymous North Korea specialist believes that there is a possibility that Kim Jung-Eun, Kim Jong-il¡¯s youngest son and successor, is publicly idolizing his father in order to show his loyalty. In other words, he intends to construct an ideological foundation that supports his succession by equalizing Kim Jong-Il and Kim Il-Sung.
