Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein

Packaging is where they skimped to get the price
I actually want to rate this a 4.5 star because for me it’s better than just a good product. It’s one of the few I’ve consumed that I can actually mix well with cold water, doesn’t taste that bad (e.g. not that sweet and “chalky”) and doesn’t give my stomach issues. As far as efficacy, well that’s subjective. I use this to supplement my protein intake since I don’t actually consume enough protein for the activities I engage in. If you buy the same exact product at a gym it will cost you a little bit more because the volume/weight is less. For example, at a local 24-hour gym for 5-something pounds of this you can get it for 50-bucks. However, this package contains 6.35 pounds and for 60-bucks it comes out to cheaper per pound than what you’d get at a discounted price at your typical gym. Saying that, the packaging on this is terrible. I like the idea, but I’ve bought 3 of these bags now, and each one I’ve had problems with the zipper seal; that is, it doesn’t re-seal/close and instead stays open. The zipper portion is not very well designed in my opinion. So, the first bag I had, I used clips to keep it semi-sealed. The 2nd and 3rd I put the powder into a plastic bin. “First-world” problems for sure, but still annoying to some extent.
